The American Trucking Associations offers a number of training and certification programs designed for moving and storage industry professionals to hone their skills. These programs provide the benefit of not only boosting consumer confidence that they are hiring a reputable representative of the moving and storage industry, but also increasing the company’s bottom line by reducing claims and damages.
This self-study program covers the key aspects of the Moving and Storage Industry Sales Consultancy Process. Over the past 35 years, more than 2,000 sales professionals have become Certified Moving Consultants. The Certified Moving Consultant (CMC) credential has come to represent a fundamental competency and adherence to ethical conduct for the household goods moving and storage industry. When consumers see the CMC logo displayed, they can be confident they are dealing with a knowledgeable sales consultant who is committed to providing excellent and fair service.
For members, a $100 application fee provides applicants with one copy of the CMC manual and two attempts to pass the test. After passing the test, a $125 yearly maintenance fee will keep credentials current.

Certified Packer/Loader (CPL)
This program has helped companies reduce claims, reduce trip and fall rates, and successfully complete jobs more efficiently and effectively. CPL includes an introduction to moving and storage, customer relations, and claims prevention through packing, loading, unloading, safety and reporting procedures. ATA members can purchase these videos once for $400, and train the whole team!
When a member of your crew has a certification designating them as a Certified Packer Loader, not only does that person differentiate themselves from others in the industry, but also your company differentiates itself from others. You can proudly market to your customers the professionalism and pride with which you operate.
For members, an additional $50 per person allows packers/loaders to take ATA’s packer/loader test to receive official certification, allowing them to wear the CPL logo and demonstrate their credentials to customers.
