Panelists: 

Nathan Meisgeier, President and Chief Legal Officer, Werner Enterprises 

Nathan J. Meisgeier is President and Chief Legal Officer at Werner Enterprises. Meisgeier has more than 17 years of experience with Werner, currently overseeing the Company’s Legal, Risk, Human Resources and Government Affairs departments. In his role with the Company, Meisgeier handles high-exposure claims and lawsuits and provides valuable legal counsel to the company’s various business units.

Outside of Werner Enterprises, Meisgeier is the Chairman of the American Trucking Associations’ Legal Reform Advisory Council and sits on the Board of Directors for the American Trucking Associations Litigation Center, among other positions within the transportation industry. He is also a member of the Werner Institute Advisory Board at Creighton Law School. Meisgeier graduated from Harvard Law School in 1998 and was a litigator at the Kansas City law firm of Stinson, Mag and Fizzell for seven years before joining Werner.

Le’Ann Callihan, Vice President, AAPL & NAPE

Le’Ann Pembroke Callihan is AAPL’s director of communications & NAPE, overseeing three annual NAPE expos — the largest oil and gas prospect expo in the world — as well as all of AAPL’s publishing, marketing and public relations efforts. She started with AAPL as an intern in 1989, served on the first NAPE advisory committee, assisted with the inaugural NAPE event in 1993 and held the positions of advertising manager, editor of the award-winning Landman magazine and senior director of publishing, marketing and media relations for AAPL prior to her recent promotion. Under her leadership, Callihan’s team has won numerous awards for their innovative work for AAPL, including four Silver Quill Awards of Excellence in 2014 in the publishing, advertising and public relations categories from the International Association of Business Communicators. Callihan earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, cum laude, from Texas Christian University as well as completed a study abroad program at Oxford University. In 1991, Callihan co-founded Publications Partners, which provided writing and design services for a variety of clients ranging from large textbook publishers to small start-up companies. 

David Holt, Managing Partner, HBW Resources

David Holt has more than 30 years of experience working for state and federal agencies and Congress, directing outreach and advocacy efforts. David founded HBW Resources in 2005 to provide counsel and guidance to companies regarding governmental and industry energy initiatives, including issues related to energy security, exploration and production, advanced technologies, air quality, and refining. Previously, David served as Vice President of Government Affairs for Hart Energy Services; Senior Legal and Energy Counsel to Chairman James E. Nugent of the Texas Railroad Commission; Counsel to the House Judiciary Committee; and in the Public Affairs and Media Office of the U.S. Department of State under President George H.W. Bush.

David currently serves as President of Consumer Energy Alliance, a trade association that focuses on expanding the dialogue between the energy sector and the rest of the economy. David regularly authors columns and appears in national media outlets. He is a frequent speaker at national energy forums, has testified before Congress and is regularly sought out by policymakers and business leaders for his energy policy insight. David serves as a founding Board Member of the Consumer Energy Education Foundation and a member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Anne Catholic Foundation. He is also an attorney. David lives in Houston with his wife Maureen and three children

Ramona Hood, President and CEO, FedEx Custom Critical, Inc. 

Ramona Hood is president and CEO of FedEx Custom Critical®, a leading North American transportation provider located in Richfield, Ohio. The company provides multiple transportation capabilities for expedite ground, temperature control shipments and industry-specific solutions. Hood brings more than three decades of FedEx experience to her role. She began her career with the organization in 1991 in an entry-level position and worked her way up to hold various executive leadership positions at FedEx Custom Critical and FedEx Supply Chain. Hood has been recognized for her excellence in thought leadership, responsibility and passion-driven results. A few specific recognitions include Crain’s Cleveland 2022 Power 150 list, Business Insider’s powerful women leading top logistics companies in 2021 and service on the Brinker International Board of Directors noting her deep experience in sales, operations, supply chain, marketing and talent management to promote growth and brand differentiation. Most recently, she was appointed to the Knight Foundation Board of Trustees due to the impact she has made on the Akron-area community as a business leader. Hood has played a critical role in maintaining the strategic vision of the business despite unexpected national and global crises. From her first days as president and CEO, she has led the organization through the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery as well as nationwide tensions regarding racial injustices. She continues to lead with courage, conviction and purpose to position FedEx Custom Critical for future growth. With a genuine interest in understanding her team members, customers and independent contractors, Hood has developed culturally significant strategies for ongoing improvement while continuously driving the performance and strategic direction of the company. Hood earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Walsh University and an Executive MBA from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management.

Rebecca M. Brewster, President and COO, ATRI

Rebecca Brewster is President and Chief Operating Officer of the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI).  Rebecca is the recipient of several awards including Fleet Owner magazine’s 2016 Dozen Outstanding Women in Trucking, the 2013 Influential Woman in Trucking award from the Women in Trucking Association, and the 2010 J.R. Bob Halladay award given by the 50 state trucking associations. Rebecca has been with ATRI for over 30 years. Prior to that, she was the Public and Governmental Affairs Director for the Cary, North Carolina Chamber of Commerce and a Fleet  Analyst with Moen, Inc. She has a B.A. in English from Wofford College and is a Fellow of the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership.
