ATA Statement on Infrastructure Impasse

May 21, 2019

Arlington, Virginia – American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear issued the following statement today, after talks between the Trump Administration and Democratic leaders in Congress over infrastructure funding failed to reach a concrete plan for moving forward:

“As Americans continue to drown in traffic, they’ll have plenty of time to think about who is best suited to represent them in Washington.

“With the unpredictability of today’s political climate in Washington, the only certain forecast is that our nation’s roads and traffic will get worse, the economy will slow, and fewer Americans will have jobs until politicians step up and address this critical issue.

“The House and Senate are about to begin drafting a transportation bill, and truckers will continue to support these efforts.  We hope the President and Congressional leaders resume productive discussions to solve this.”
