About the Moderator:

Robert Braswell, Executive Director, ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC)

Robert M. Braswell is the Executive Director for ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC). Robert is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of all TMC programs, products, meetings and services covering all aspects of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicle engineering, maintenance and maintenance management. Since 2005, he has served as co-host and content producer of the weekly coast-to-coast satellite radio segment, “Tech Talk with TMC” on “The Dave Nemo Show,” produced in partnership with Dave Nemo Entertainment and heard on SiriusXM Channel 146 every Tuesday at 10 am eastern. The show provides technical information and exchange on a wide range of technical issues to audience of U.S. and Canadian listeners. Robert joined TMC in 1992 as Information Manager. He was named TMC Assistant Technical Director in 1994, and promoted to Technical Director in 1995. He was awarded the Council’s highest honor in 2004 — The Silver Spark Plug. He was named Executive Director in 2017. He has been a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) since 1992; has served as a Member of SAE’s Truck & Bus Council and has chaired SAE’s Commercial Vehicle Maintenance Committee.

About the Presenters:

Jack Poster, VMRS Services Manager, Technology & Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Associations

Jack Poster, TMC’s VMRS Services Manager has worked in the transportation industry for more than 40 years. His family owned a Chrysler-Plymouth agency in Western Pennsylvania. After college Jack returned to help run the dealership. Later he moved to Northern Virginia to raise his family and work for Merchant’s Tire & Auto (NTB) (one of the nations largest independent tire dealers). After 19 years with Merchant’s he took a position with Mancon Inc. a parts procurement firm for the Virginia Department of Transportation. It was with Mancon that he became familiar with VMRS (Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards)  In 2007, he left Mancon to become TMC’s VMRS Services Manager for the American Trucking Associations. He is now the caretaker of the VMRS coding convention working with fleets, OEMs, software firms and all users of VMRS to insure the integrity of the codes. His duties include adding new codes to the database and also educating people to the many uses of VMRS.

Shaun Hartoog, Digital Solutions Specialist, Dana Incorporated

Shaun leads Dana Incorporated’s Rhombus Tire Analytics Client Success team, supporting customers as a subject matter expert, leveraging his experience as a data analyst and former fleet Maintenance Director. Shaun began his career as a diesel technician, earning a B.A. degree in Supply Chain Management while working full time. After completing his college courses, Shaun transitioned to operations, spending 2 years as a Materials Buyer and Export Freight Coordinator before continuing his transportation journey, taking a role in 2015 as the Director of Maintenance for a large auto transport company. Implementing Digital Best Practices of Rhombus Tire Analytics along with other maintenance process improvements during his tenure has provided Shaun with real-world experience and insight into the challenges and ultimate value the implementation of Digital Best Practices can unlock.

Dave Helge, CTP, CDS, Vice President Maintenance and Safety, Idealease Inc. 

Dave Helge joined Idealease in 2006 as Director of Idealsafe after spending six years as a consultant to Idealease for safety and compliance. Previously, Dave spent twenty years in transportation safety as a consultant and safety director. His association with Idealease dates to 1989 when he began consulting with Harco National Insurance Company providing loss control and insurance auditing services. In June of 2007, Dave was promoted to Vice President of Maintenance and Safety. Dave currently sits on the National Private Truck Council (NPTC) Institute Board of Governors and in 2010 received the NPTC Allied Member of the year award.  Dave is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in Business Administration. Additional certifications: Certified Director of Safety (CDS), April 1993 Certified Transportation Professional (CTP), April 2005

Todd Cotier, Director of Maintenance, Hartt Transportation

Todd M. Cotier has been with Hartt Transportation Systems since March of 1982. He began as a general mechanic, rising through the ranks of Shop Foreman and Maintenance Manager to his present position of Director of Maintenance. Todd is an active member of many national and local organizations including the ATA – Technology & Maintenance Council, and the Advisory Committee for Eastern Maine Technical College, Maine Motor Transport Association Technician Skills Competition Committee. He has served on many fleet advisory committees for truck manufactures & truck component manufactures. He is currently a member of ATA's TMC Board of Directors.
