Truckload Turnover Rate Sinks in Final Quarter of 2017

Arlington, Virginia — Today, American Trucking Associations Chief Economist Bob Costello said that the driver turnover rate at truckload carriers fell in the final three months of 2017, but that the rate stayed higher than in the previous year.

ATA Truck Tonnage Index Rose 2% in January

American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index increased 2% in January after falling 0.3% in December. In January, the index equaled 111.6 (2015=100), up from 109.4 in December.

American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index fell for the first time since September, losing 5.7% in December. In December, the index equaled 142.9 (2000=100), down from 151.6 in November.

Today, the American Trucking Associations released the latest edition of ATA American Trucking Trends 2017, the annual compendium of data about the trucking industry. Among the findings in this year’s Trends is that trucking industry revenues in 2016 were $676.2 billion.
