Michael Birk is Senior National Fleet Sustainability Manager for
Frito-Lay North America. He is responsible for Frito-Lay’s gaseous fuel
program. As sustainability manager, Michael oversees vehicle implementation,
shop upgrades, fuel infrastructure projects and technician training across
Frito-Lay/PepsiCo. He has led deployment of over 200 CNG class 8 tractors at
14 locations. Prior to 2011, Michael held the position of Region Fleet
Manager for Frito-Lay overseeing one of the largest privately owned fleets
within Frito-Lay. In this role, Michael was responsible for the development
and execution of his region’s sustainability strategy for fleet. By
developing partnerships with organizations like Clean Fuels Ohio, Frito-Lay
(Ohio Region) received the Green Fleet Certification in the State of Ohio. In
2011, Michael received the PepsiCo Chairman’s award for his work on the
electric vehicle program and success of receiving over 2 million dollars in
grants to fund EV and propane projects. Michael has over 12 years of
experience in the Fleet Operations managing various fleets.
Carolyn McGough is Senior Program Manager at Gladstein, Neandross & Associates (GNA). Carolyn provides comprehensive experience in project management, market development, market outreach, and grant writing for air quality, alternative energy, and environmental issues in the transportation sector. Carolyn’s team aggressively pursues funding and incentives for GNA’s clients that help to accelerate the market for low-emission vehicle technologies, with a specific focus on implementing cost-effective and technically viable projects that reduce environmental impacts. GNA has secured $255 million on behalf of its clients for alternative fuel and advanced technology projects, with a 90%+ application success rate. Carolyn’s responsibilities include managing the development of winning grant funding applications, and leading an internal team that tracks and reports availability of alternative fuel and advanced technology funding opportunities.
