2/8/2011

$0On Feb. 4, President Obama and Canada’s Prime Minister, StephenHarper, met to discuss improving trade and economic cooperation, whileincreasing joint efforts to establish “perimeter” security around bothcountries. A jointdeclaration was issued establishing the principle areas for coordination, including issues impacting trucking operations: expediting the flow oflegitimate commerce across the border; improving coordination and development ofjoint border facilities and programs; increasing the sharing of information andsystems for cargo clearance systems; streamlining border crossing procedures andreducing transactional costs, among others. As this effort proceeds, ATA willwork with both governments and our Canadian industry counterparts to ensureprogress is made in these areas.$0
