TMC Releases 2018, 2019 Recommended Practices Manual

Aug 05, 2018

Arlington, Virginia — Today, American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council released its 2018-2019 Recommended Practices Manual, featuring more than 40 new or revised Recommended Practices, with a goal of increasing equipment maintenance and engineering efficiencies.

“Each recommended practice has been developed through experimentation in the field, then subjected to stringent evaluation by TMC members, so you know the information is top quality,” said TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell. “TMC’s RPs have been under development throughout the more than 60 years of our existence and include maintenance and equipment testing information as well as spec’ing and design practices.”

The Recommended Practices Manual is a TMC member benefit but is also available for purchase for non-members in a variety of formats. The new set features both TMC’s Recommended Maintenance Practices Manual and Recommended Engineering Practices Manual. Together, the two-volume set (three volumes in the print version) features more than 3,500 pages of technical information that represents the consensus and collective wisdom of Council members on spec’ing, testing and maintaining a wide-range of Class 2-8 commercial vehicles.

The 2018-19 edition features RPs added since the publication of TMC’s 2017 RP Supplement, covering topics ranging from battery selection criteria to aerodynamic wheel cover considerations and lifting and jacking vehicles guidelines to key performance indicators for cost-per-mile metrics.

TMC members receive immediate access to TMC’s entire RP library through TMC Connect. To join, visit http://JoinTMC.trucking.org or call 703-838-1763.
