America's Road Team is a national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who share superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a strong desire to spread the word about safety on the highway.


About America's Road Team

The name America's Road Team is meant to symbolize America's 3.1 million professional truck drivers and to serve as a rallying point for the spirit of professional dedication and teamwork needed to deliver America's freight safely, securely and on time. Professional truck drivers actively represent their industry daily on the nation's highways. They are an untapped resource in spreading the trucking industry's message of safety, essentiality, sustainability and professionalism. That's where America's Road Team fits in.

America's Road Team is a national public outreach program led by a small group of professional truck drivers who share superior driving skills, remarkable safety records and a strong desire to spread the word about safety on the highway.

American Trucking Associations, the voice of the trucking industry, created America's Road Team in 1986 to reach out to the trucking industry and the motoring public.

Featured Captain

Chad Miller has been a professional truck driver for 30 years and has accumulated over 3 million accident-free miles. He is a professional driver for ABF.

Familiar with Road Teams, Chad has served on the ABF Freight Road Team three terms (2014-2015, 2010-2011, 2008-2009) and as a finalist for the 2011 America’s Road Team. Chad also has received several awards and accolades, including the 2 Million Mile Safe Driving Award; 20 Year Safety Performance Plaque; and 21 Year Safe Driving Certificate. He competed in the Illinois Truck Driving Championships: 3rd Place, Twins (2014); 4th Place, Flatbed (2002); Flatbed, (2001).

Chad also serves his local trucking industry by participating in ABF Freight Equipment Sessions, conducting Road tests for new hires, serving as ABF Freight Beta Tester for Electronic Logging Device, and the Chicago Accident Review and Safety Board.

Chad lives with his wife, Lisa, in Crown Point, Indiana. He has one son and two stepchildren.

Arizona Legislature Hosts America’s Road Team, Arizona Trucking Association

The Arizona State Capitol served as the backdrop for America’s Road Team’s latest trucking advocacy efforts as part of Truck Safety Day at the Capitol on January 25. Arizona Trucking Association, with support from American Trucking Associations’ America’s Road Team, spent the day speaking with state legislators, local news media and the general motoring public about the trucking industry’s commitment to safety and the important role trucking plays in the state’s economy.

Elite Truck Drivers Offer Winter Driving Tips in Preparation for Weekend Storms

Winter weather is expected to hit many parts of North America this weekend, creating dangerous driving conditions for motorists. American Trucking Associations’ America’s Road Team, a group of elite professional truck drivers, want to remind the general motoring public that safety is the first priority. To accompany the list of safety tips provided below, America’s Road Team Captains John Lex (Walmart Transportation) and Russ Simpson (Holland) appeared in a video highlighting some of the most critical safety procedures.

This Thanksgiving, nearly 47 million people will travel to celebrate the holiday with family and friends, presenting challenging driving conditions for both truck drivers and holiday travelers. During this time, American Trucking Associations and America’s Road Team Captains, elite professional truck drivers with millions of miles of accident-free driving, are urging motorists to be safe on the roads this holiday.
