ATA’s National Accounting and Finance Council Returns with New Structure and Agenda

Arlington, Va. – After a multi-year dormancy, American Trucking Associations has revamped and restructured the National Accounting and Finance Council, which will debut a new dues-based membership structure beginning next week.  In advance of this re-launch, NAFC held its first annual conference since 2013 earlier this month in Raleigh, N.C., where it stood up six new study groups focused in the areas of taxation; IT; financial relations; accounting and collections; associates; and risk management.  It also absorbed what was previously the Information Technology & Logistics Council to reflect the rapid convergence happening between the fields of business management and technology.  


ATA Announces TMC’s Fleet Data Management and Cybersecurity Conference

Arlington, Va. – Today, American Trucking Associations announced its Technology & Maintenance Council is hosting TMC’s Fleet Data Management and Cybersecurity Conference, a new event to address best practices in fleet data management and cybersecurity. Attendees will learn how to extract more business value from the data that fleets collect to make cost reporting and operations more efficient. The Conference will have a special focus on leveraging the power of the Council’s Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standards as well as new breakdown maintenance benchmarking services available through a joint project with FleetNet America.





ATA President Outlines Vision for Trucking, Federation

In his first State of the Industry Address, American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear made a case for industry unity and called on ATA to move forward and lead on a host of issues, ranging from autonomous vehicle technology to funding the nation’s infrastructure, despite gridlock and other challenges facing the industry.



Incoming ATA Chairman Touts Need for Highway Investment

In a roundtable discussion hosted by Rep. Sam Graves, chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, Kevin Burch, president of Jet Express Inc., Dayton, Ohio, and incoming chairman of the American Trucking Associations, emphasized the important role of well-maintained infrastructure to the trucking industry.


ATA Truck Tonnage Index Jumped 5.7% in August

American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted (SA) For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index increased 5.7% in August, following a 2.1% decline during July. In August, the index equaled 141.8 (2000=100), up from 134.2 in July. The all-time high was 144 in February.


ATA Names Rusty Duckworth as New CFO

American Trucking Associations President and CEO Chris Spear today announced that Rusty Duckworth has been promoted to the position of chief financial officer.
