Sherri has almost 35 years of experience in the trucking industry, beginning her career at her family-owned and operated truckload carrier in 1991. President and CEO, Sherri became owner of Garner Transportation in July 2012. Garner Transportation, which began business with one truck and was founded as Vern Garner Trucking, currently has 100 power units and 400 dry van trailers. The company’s average length of haul is 350 miles and services primarily the Midwest.
Sherri is currently Vice Chairman of the American Trucking Associations, the largest national trade association for the trucking industry. Through a federation of 50 affiliated state trucking associations and industry-related conferences and councils, ATA is the voice of the industry America depends on most to move our nation’s freight.
The Garner family has been an active member of the American Trucking Associations since 1989, with Sherri’s father Vern Garner serving as ATA Chairman from 2002-2003. Sherri is currently Vice Chairman of the Technology & Engineering Policy Committee, a member of the Communications & Image Policy Committee, the Highway Policy Committee, the Small Carrier Advisory Committee, the Chairman’s Membership Committee and the Truck PAC Board of Directors. Sherri is the past Acting Chairman of Truck PAC.
She is a Board of Director of ATA and a member of the Executive Committee, as well as a Board of Director of the Ohio Trucking Association, Indiana Motor Truck Association and Truckload Carriers Association, where she serves as co-chair of the TCA Image Committee. Sherri is Chairman of the Findlay/Hancock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; an Alliance Board member, Board of Trustees for the Community Foundation Board, serves on the University of Findlay School of Business Advisory Board, Board of Counselors and Board of Trustees. She serves on the Humane Society Foundation Board of Directors, Boy Scouts of America Black Swamp Area Council Board and the Blanchard Valley Hospital Compliance Committee. She is a member of College First Church of God and performs with the Chancel Orchestra.
Sherri graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Education in Music and received her Master of Education from Bowling Green State University. She is married to Jerry Brumbaugh and they have three sons.
