The Affiliates are trucking trade associations having their own direct membership, but with a formal relationship recognizing ATA as the national representative for legislative, regulatory and political matters. The Affiliates include all 50 state trucking associations, plus three national trade associations. The national trade associations pay ATA a fee roughly related to the percentage of ATA non-members in their midst. On the other hand, a prerequisite to motor carrier membership in ATA is membership in at least one state trucking association.
Broadly referred to as the “Federation,” TAEC is a coordinating structure for the professional staff of all the State Trucking Associations, but formally including executive leaders of the three ATA-managed Conferences and the other ATA Affiliates. TAEC holds regional meetings and an annual summer gathering. John Hausladen is the current TAEC Chairman.
